Senior Wind Engineer (Advisor)

What will you do?

You will be taking a lead role in developing and delivering our Wind Farm owner’s engineer offering within Aurecon’s QLD Energy business. You will also be part of our multi-disciplinary team who advises our clients on the development and implementation of a variety of power generation projects across the entire development lifecycle. This includes a range of technologies such as solar PV, wind, gas, BESS, pumped hydro, hydrogen and hybrid/island grid applications. Roles include technical advisory, owner’s engineer, technical due diligence and more.

The Wind Engineer/Advisor role will include the following activities:

  • Identify, build relationships with clients and win work in the wind renewables sector
  • Undertake scoping, concept and feasibility level studies for a wide range of power projects
  • Manage, or be part of delivering large scale procurement processes including preparation of EPC/IPP type functional specifications, tender evaluations, negotiations, etc.
  • Support project implementation through a variety of roles that include detailed design, owner’s engineer, lenders engineer and O&M phase support.
  • Deeply understand our client’s most pressing challenges and exciting opportunities relating to the energy sector
  • Ask the right questions to frame a strategic approach to problem solving and value creation
  • Search for innovative ideas and concepts to further improve delivery processes for the business

We know the work we do is vital in assisting our world’s economic development and, it’s the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. Here are the key things you will need to have in order to ‘bring ideas to life’.

  • Able to bring innovation to complex problems using your problem solving and analytical skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering
  • Self-motivated and hard-working
  • Be registered as a RPEQ or eligible for registration
  • Highly aligned with many of the Aurecon Attributes - co-creative, commercial, engaging, fearless, inquisitive, resourceful, sense maker, and unconventional thinker
  • Approximately 5-15 years post-graduation experience in a role with close contact with the power industry, consulting, or power project developer/owner/operator - with specific wind farm construction phase experience, for example in an owner’s engineer role, OEM or equivalent
  • Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at appropriate times
  • Understanding of the power project development lifecycle including; development approval, environmental assessment, contracting strategies, procurement processes, commercial agreements, financing and implementation/construction of projects
  • Knowledge and understanding of other power generation technologies (apart from wind) including; gas turbines, reciprocating engines, solar PV, hydro, biomass, large scale batteries, etc (experience with multiple technologies preferred but not essential)
