The Transport Workers' Union says recent truck crashes are a reminder of the lethal pressures in Australia's most dangerous industry.

A police forensic unit will continue investigations in to a highway collision south of Rockhampton last week, it saw no serious injuries despite a semi-trailer running over a sedan, a ute and clipping a third car. The Transport Workers Union has put out a timely reminder in the wake of the crash.

TWU national secretary Tony Sheldon said one death is too many, but when hundreds of people are killed in truck crashes each year, it highlights the scale of the safety crisis in the trucking industry.

"Every day across Australia, truck drivers and transport companies are forced to meet unrealistic demands and impossible deadlines set by major clients, no matter what," Mr Sheldon said.

The mortality rate for truck drivers is 11 times the average for other industries.
