Safe Work Australia has released the submissions on a proposed prohibition on the use of engineered stone.

The regulator has published submissions received as part of the recent consultation on a prohibition on the use of engineered stone.

Stakeholders were invited to provide feedback on a prohibition on the use of engineered stone to address the risks of workplace exposure to respirable crystalline silica from these materials.

Consultation was open from 2 March to 2 April 2023.

114 submissions were received from stakeholders including workers, PCBUs, WHS professionals, government agencies, industry and peak bodies, and employer and worker representatives.

79 submissions have been published, where the author has given consent for publication and there are no privacy or confidentiality concerns.

The published submissions can be accessed on Safe Work Australia’s consultation website Engage.
