The South Australian Government is expected to announce today that it has secured Federal Government approval for proposed mining sites in the states Woomera Prohibited Area (WPA).

 

The SA Government believes the area, in the state’s northwest, represents a huge potential for government and the mining industry.

 

The Woomera region is known to contain 62% of Australia’s know copper deposits and 78% of the country’s uranium.

 

“it's estimated that around $A35 billion worth of resources could be unlocked and opened up to mining in the Woomera Prohibited Area," South Australia Premier Mike Rann said.
