Several contracts for infrastructure at Rio Tinto's Cape Lambert project have been decided.

Australian engineering form Decmil has won the $26 million contract to design, supply, install, and commission non-process infrastructure at Rio Tinto's Cape Lambert Port B.

In addition, a $13.4 million contract will see Tempo Construction and Maintenance - a subsidiary of Tempo Australia - providing structural, mechanical, and miscellaneous works for the port expansion.

It comes just a week after Rio Tinto awarded the contract for its $35 million expansion of the West Angelas Deposit B project, also to Decmil.

The latest contract is for work on Cape Lambert's supply hub, production administration building, and engineering services building ablution block.

“The work at Cape Lambert is another great win for Decmil as it further demonstrates our leading position in delivering NPI for remote natural resources projects,” Decmil MD Scott Criddle says

“As mine production ramps up and our clients focus on the operational cycle of their projects, we are in a strong position to provide the non process infrastructure required to support this growth.”

“This contract highlights the strength of our experience and shows how far we have come from providing construction contracting in the Pilbara in 1979 to offering design, fabrication, and construction in 2014,” Criddle said following the award of the earlier contract.
