The Broken Hill base of the Royal Flying Doctor Service will get a make-over and a reshuffle, with the Service approving plans to upgrade its facilities in rural New South Wales.

A board meeting late last week signed-off on plans to expand services with the improved set-up.

RFDS South Eastern Section President John Milhinch says there will be some moving to do, but all for the sake of better health service.

“Where all the administration part is, that will be going over to a building that was previously called the flight services centre... that's got to be redeveloped for the accounting and corporate services area. So the whole area that they vacate will be converted into a very modern and appropriate general practice clinic.”

Mr Milhinch thanked the tremendous ongoing support of locals, who rely heavily on the services.

“We appear to be meeting the needs of the rural and remote people in that our health clinics were up over 13 per cent and also our other clinics were are up over 47 per cent...the other clinics [include] mental health, dental, those types of things.”
