Thyssenkrupp Industrial has picked up a set of multi-million-dollar contracts to replace materials handling equipment at the Port Kembla Coal Terminal.

The deals will see about $100 million awarded for the design, supply, construction and commissioning of the replacement materials handling equipment, which includes around 560 tonnes worth of primary structures.

Civmec has picked up a major subcontract.

“Our colleagues from Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems recommended Civmec as they are highly experienced in the delivery of complex heavy engineering projects and have state of the art facilities based in Henderson with a highly skilled workforce,” said Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions Australia CEO Greg Breakell.

“They clearly demonstrate how capable Australian manufacturing is when it comes to heavy and industrial engineering.”
