Toll will build some entirely new ships to fill a big new contract.

Chevron Australia has picked Toll Group as the recipient of it marine logistics contract, covering a number of Chevron’s offshore operations.

It appears Australia’s largest transport and logistics services provider will become even larger after securing the deal to provide services across Chevron’s Western Australia assets.

The deal includes logistics support for Chevron's LNG asset on Barrow Island.

Toll says it is expecting to create 50 new jobs on the back of the deal, bringing revenues of around $100 million over five years.

It is understood that Toll has already started building three landing craft tank (LCT) vessels to support the new supply chain.

“Our innovative design includes two underdeck passages that reduce the amount of interaction between the crew and the cargo, making the vessels safer to load, sail and unload,” Toll Group managing director Brian Kruger says.

“These vessels also have larger capacity due to their three-container stacking capabilities, and our innovative double-hulled design with automated gauges makes for safer, more environmentally-friendly vessels.”

Toll says it will start some trips back and forth to Barrow Island by next month.
