About the Parks & Gardens Department
This department is part of our City Services Division, and is the operations arm responsible for the sustainable planning and management of Council's open, outdoor and natural environments including all green spaces, trees and the Geelong Botanic Gardens.

About the Role
This position is responsible for the maintenance of parks, reserves and sporting grounds within the municipality to a high standard through the safe operation of large ride on mowers.

Some of the key responsibilities in this role will include:

1. Maintaining parks and reserves surfaces and other designated areas in a condition that satisfies customer requirements.
2. Displaying a positive personal contribution in assisting the section in providing a customer focused service.
3. Undertaking additional duties to assist team members in completing projects consistent with the unit’s requirements to meet organisational service standards.
4. Working within all Council health and safety policies and wearing and using personal safety equipment provided.
5. Instructing others in the safe use of large ride on mowers.
6. Operating and maintaining plant and equipment in an effective and efficient manner and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will require:

• A current Victorian Driver’s Licence and Medium Rigid Licence are essential.
• Experience in safe operating and maintaining of large ride on mowers or related items of plant.
• Demonstrated experience in operating a range of Park Maintenance plant and equipment.
• Some experience related to horticultural maintenance activities performed in the Parks environment.
• Demonstrated mechanical knowledge and competence in the use of specific tools
