Battlespace Communications Systems Program Office (BCSPO) acquires and supports land-based communications systems and equipment for the Australian Defence Force. Although Army is the primary user, we also provide systems and equipment to Navy and Air Force. BCSPO currently manages a major capital acquisition project based in Canberra and Brisbane, delivering a state-of-the-art deployable communications trunk system (‘broadband in the battlespace’), and supports a wide variety of land communications systems and equipment from the Battlespace Communications Operations Group (BCOG) in Victoria Barracks Melbourne. BCSPO is looking for an individual that has experience in business process improvement, particularly related to leadership in the implementation of reform initiatives that increase efficiency and effectiveness. The individual will be a confident self-starter that has good analytical and business skills, which can be applied to drive change in an organisation.

To be successful, you will have very good people skills. You will have an ability to connect with people around opportunities for doing work in smarter and more innovative ways.  This position is an exciting opportunity to work within a government organisation and implement solutions to drive change and improve efficiency and effectiveness. The role involves three key areas of (1) introducing new and innovative ways of working, (2) working with our customers and defence industry to support the delivery of services within this context and (3) maintaining the organisation’s ISO 9001 and related accreditations along that journey.

BCSPO manages prime system integrator style contracts with three major suppliers, all in Brisbane – Boeing Defence Australia, Harris Communications Australia and Raytheon Australia. As part of our implementation of First Principles Review, we are working on a range of initiatives for involving Defence Industry more deeply in our work. Inherent in this role is the lead implementation of reform initiatives across the organisation; ensuring that we stay aligned to the First Principles review and extract benefits from wider organisational reform programs. The successful candidate will be working within the BCSPO executive to support the Director and the Project and Sustainment managers in the efficient and effective delivery of services to the ADF.
