The role

We have an opportunity for an experienced Hydraulic Designer to join our busy Building Services team in Adelaide.

In this varied role, you will work on projects in a number of sectors including defence, residential, retail, health, commercial and education.  You will primarily be involved in the design of building hydraulics services including roof stormwater, hot and cold water, gas, hydrant and hose reel, sanitary drainage, plumbing, soil waste and venting.

You will make your mark by:

  • Liaising with clients to understand and manage their needs to deliver projects on time
  • Preparing design concept drawings and ideas for discussion and conceptual development
  • Preparing detail drawings using your technical design skills and knowledge
  • Calculating  quantities and costing of projects
  • Coaching and mentoring team members
  • Preparing of memoranda, letters and reports
  • Contributing to innovation and improvement

As the ideal candidate you will have:

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • The proven ability to design and deliver of a range of hydraulic systems and solutions
  • An understanding of  Australian Standards, BCA codes and local (SA Water) requirementsPrevious experience in delivering a range of projects on time and within budget
  • The ability to prioritise and  work effectively across multiple  projects
  • Sound written communication skills with the ability to prepare a range of business documentation to a high standard
  • Effective influencing skills and proven success in negotiating positive outcomes
  • A strong commitment to safety in the workplace
  • A Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering  or relevant trade qualification supplemented by further technical training

Whilst not essential, the ability to design fire services will be highly regarded.
