Mechanical Fitter

  • Starting from $76,088, with 20% Annualised salary (after probation completion), plus 15% superannuation

  • Work an 9 day fortnight

The opportunity

We are seeking a capable and engaging candidate with an interest in the water industry to join our team as a Mechanical Fitter. This role is responsible for undertaking maintenance and installation of mechanical equipment operated by Icon Water in the ACT and surrounding region. You will be participating in the on-call roster, as well as the 9-day fortnight schedule.

What will my day look like?

  • Undertaking reactive and scheduled preventative maintenance tasks
  • Completing documentation and reporting requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of preventive and breakdown maintenance work orders, recording of maintenance history, development of maintenance programs and scheduling of maintenance activities for mechanical systems
  • Assist in identifying workplace hazards, conducting risk assessments and performing work in accordance with implemented safe work practices and procedures

The successful applicants will have:

  • Recognised Tradesman’s Certificate in Mechanical Fitting/Turning
  • Demonstrated ability to perform maintenance duties on pumps, valves, gearboxes and other process industry equipment
  • Experience working under and in accordance with a comprehensive safety system
  • Experience in machining and welding techniques
  • Relevant trade certifications
