Head of Quality Assurance


Metro Trains Melbourne has an opportunity within the Train Services department for a Head of Quality Assurance to lead the safety and compliance team.

We are looking for an experienced individual to continually drive safety improvement within the Train Service Division whilst ensuring train driver compliance and adherence with all legal and contractual requirements.

The key responsibility of this role is to develop, implement and monitor strategies, plans and initiatives that improve safety performance and delivery of outputs and KPI’s to defined business targets. This includes ensuring effective investigations of all serious safety incidents; determination of root causes; and the implementation of all necessary remedial actions to prevent recurrences. You will consult, negotiate and partner with internal and external stakeholders in the development of contemporary work practices that address critical operational issues and in partnership with Driver Training, ensure technical advice is delivered in an accurate and timely manner to Train Services.

You will come to us with a high level of rail operations experience, specifically safeworking systems and detailed knowledge of legal and regulatory obligations regarding rail operator accreditation and enterprise risk and governance models. An understanding of human factors and the associated risks within a dynamic fast paced transport environment would be desired.

Your stakeholder management skills will be second to none as will your ability to conduct in-depth data analysis activities, root cause and problem appreciation and develop train crew safety standards of a technical nature.

In addition, you will confidently demonstrate your proven leadership capabilities, employee engagement skills and the ability to effectively plan and schedule work priorities.
