Remuneration: Salary range between $73,419 and $76,615 per annum plus commuter use (on call) of a Council vehicle and 13 per cent superannuation

Role Overview

The purpose of this role is to efficiently and effectively control the operation of Council's plant repairs and maintenance, and to maintain accurate plant service records and supporting database to ensure the safety and compliance of Council's fleet.

What we are looking for

Council is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to lead a team of highly skilled and dedicated mechanics in our Gympie workshop.  This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative person who can develop, implement and deliver workshop efficiencies through a change management approach and a democratic and collaborative leadership style.

As Manager - Workshop, you could expect to be responsible for:

  • the development, implementation and maintenance of service records and databases.
  • the reporting of all workshop activities and efficiencies.
  • providing supervision to the Gympie workshop and support for Kilkivan workshop to improve labour efficiencies and ensure plant and equipment is maintained to manufacturers and Council's standards.
  • investigate and assess plant safety matters on all mechanical aspects of accidents and incidents involving Council's plant.
  • maintain safety processes and procedures such as Chemwatch records, WH&S inspections and fire extinguisher registers in accordance with Council guidelines.
  • contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • proven experience in coordinating workshop operations, including service and repair, scheduling and prioritisation.
  • a minimum 2 years experience in developing and supervising teams.
  • demonstrated experience in the service and maintenance of a range of plant including light vehicles and heavy commercial vehicles, and light and heavy equipment.
  • demonstrated general administrative experience and computer aptitude, including sound skills in the use of Microsoft Office suite.

Mandatory Licences/Tickets require for this role include:

  • QLD 'HR' Class driver's licence or higher.
  • construction industry white/blue card.
  • fork lift ticket.

Desirable for this position is:

  • Engineering trade qualification
  • QLD Transport Inspection Station Officer Accreditation, or the ability to obtain.
  • knowledge of purchasing and procurement processes.
  • knowledge of database applications specific to workshop environments.
  • QLD Automotive Air Conditioning Service and Maintenance Certification.

 Desirable Licences/Tickets require for this role include:

  • QLD Automotive Air Conditioning Service and Maintenance Certificate.
  • QLD Transport Inspection Station Officer Accreditation.
