Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance unit compromises of Security Operations, Building Maintenance for Council's 130 owned and leased buildings, and graffiti maintenance in the community. 

We are looking for a values based motivated leader to oversee a high functioning team to oversee all building-related activities. The ideal candidate will be well-organised with highly developed stakeholder relation skills to set you apart from other candidates.

General coordinator level responsibilities are part of this position such as staff development of a team of 6, management of budgets and development of high quality reports and documents. 

As a Coordinator of the Facilities Maintenance Unit, this position will work with external stakeholders to effectively manage service and works contracts, ensure high quality works and Best Practice, and provide expert technical advice. 

Internally, the incumbent will work with areas such as Asset Management, Project Management and the Planning areas for maintenance of Council buildings and assets, application of heritage requirements, and the successfull delivery of building capital work projects. 

Some priorities for 2022 include:

  • Major security upgrades across our building portfolio
  • Overseeing significant maintenance and renewal upgrades in Prahran Square and other key buildings
  • Undertaking service reviews and tendering building maintenance services
  • Implementing technology and service process improvements to optimize efficiency

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary range of $113,683 to $126,560 + 10% superannuation and a monthly accrued day off arrangement.

Desired Skills and Experience

To succeed in this position you will need:

  • Previous experience in building maintenance or facilities management and a tertiary qualification in Engineering, Facilities Management, Project Management or a similar field
  • Well-developed methods for creating a cohesive team environment 
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate, problem solve and maintain positive relationships
  • Experience in budget management, project management and contract management
  • Good level of computer skills to maximise efficiencies, governance and collaboration using online tools, systems and software. 

You will of course have days working from home but the incumbent will need to have some days in the office (flexible to how many / what days), as well as site inspections / investigations and so a current drivers licence will be required.
