Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) has been announced as Australia’s best port and terminal operator at the 2011 Lloyds Australian Shipping and Maritime Industry Awards.

The award follows a period of rapid expansion for PWCS, after the company has spent over $1.8 billion on coal loading infrastructure expansion projects over the last decade.

“This award is a tribute to the many PWCS employees and contractors who have worked so hard to maintain our status as the world’s largest and foremost coal loading export terminal,” PWCS Chairman Michael Harvey said.

“It is extremely pleasing for PWCS to be recognised for its achievements yet again by esteemed industry peers.”

PWCS is currently completing major expansion projects which will see it exhaust its current planning approved loading capacity footprint of 145 million tonnes, while company is preparing to commence delivery of its ‘Terminal 4’ (T4) proposal.
