The Northern Territory Government has reiterated its commitment to the $103 million Tiger Brennan Drive duplication work, which will bt the largest road project ever undertaken in the Territory’s history.

Territory Transport Minister, Adam Giles, announced over $9 million had been allocated to the 2012-13 Capital Works Program so construction can commence on widening the Tiger Brennan Drive from two to four lanes.

Construction on duplicating the 12km section between Berrimah Road and Darwin’s CBD will commence mid-2013,” Mr Giles said.

Mr Giles said a further $20 million would also be invested in the following two years by the Territory Government to complete this vital infrastructure upgrade.

“The days of traffic backing up for kilometres on Tiger Brennan Drive, will be severely reduced by the addition of two extra lanes to this major roadway,” Mr Giles said.

The project is being jointly funded by the Territory Government ($33 million) and Federal ($70 million).
